To a mixture of 2,6-difluoro-3-iodobenzoic acid 3 (2.84 g, 10.0 mmol) in methanol (30 mL) was added SOCl2 (0.1 mL) dropwise at 0 C. EXAMPLE 36A; Preparation of compound 2002; Step 1:; Sulfuric acid (3 mL) is added to a solution of 36a1 (15.0 g, 36.9 mmol) in MeOH (200 mL) and the resulting solution is stirred overnight at 800C.
