Compound 12 (7.44 g, 30.0 mmol) in DMSO (20 ml) was added to a suspension of bis(pinacolate)diboron (8.38 g, 33.0 mmol) and pre-dried potassium acetate (8.84 g, 90.0 mmol) and PdCl2(dppf)¡¤CH2Cl2 (735 mg, 0.900 mmol) in DMSO (80 ml) under Ar atmosphere, and the mixture was stirred for 5 h at 80 C. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate and filtered through Celite. The organic layer was washed with water and brine, dried with sodium sulfate, and evaporated. Purification by silica gel column chromatography (n-hexane/ethyl acetate 10:1) gave 8 (colorless solids, 6.19 g, 25.0 mmol, 83%).
