On June 13, 2003, Li, Quan; Rukavishnikov, Aleksey V.; Petukhov, Pavel A.; Zaikova, Tatiana O.; Jin, Changshu; Keana, John F. W. published an article.SDS of cas: 144970-30-9 The title of the article was Nanoscale Tripodal 1,3,5,7-Tetrasubstituted Adamantanes for AFM Applications. And the article contained the following:

The synthesis of four novel nanoscale 1,3,5,7-tetrasubstituted adamantanes, e.g. I [R = MeCOSCH2, 1,2,5-dithiazepan-5-yl, 4-(MeCOSCH2)C6H4C顚咰], designed for at. force microscopy (AFM) applications is described. Each tetrahedrally shaped mol. incorporates a broad tripodal base made up of three identical legs that terminate with a sulfur-containing moiety, which is either a 4-acetylsulfanylmethylphenyl unit or a (1,2,5-dithiazepan-1-yl)phenyl unit. The sulfur atoms are intended for eventual binding of the mol. multivalently to the apex of a gold-coated com. AFM tip through formation of multiple S-Au bonds. In each mol., the fourth terminus is a para-substituted benzoic acid Me ester that is designed to scan the sample. It was found that I [R = 4-(MeCOSCH2)C6H4C顚咰] is sufficiently large and rigid to be imaged by a conventional AFM tip. These adamantanes may also find application as chem. well-defined nanoscale objects for calibration of AFM tips. The experimental process involved the reaction of 1,3,5,7-Tetrakis(4-iodophenyl)adamantane(cas: 144970-30-9).SDS of cas: 144970-30-9
