After cooling to room temperature, the mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure, neutralized to pH 7.0 with dilute hydrochloric, and then extracted with ethyl acetate (3×100 mL). The combined organic extracts were washed with brine, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, and concentrated. The resulting residue was recrystallization from ethanol.
