The EtOAc layer was dried (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated in vacuo to give 2-iodo-5-bromobenzyl alcohol (13.8 g, 96%). 1H NMR (CDCl3): delta 7.56 (d, 1H, J=8.25 Hz), 7.54 (s, 1H), 7.04 (d, 1H, J=8.25 Hz), 4.47 (s, 2H). HPLC: Rt=3.12 min. m/z=312 M+H+).
