Ethyl 3-iodobenzoate (939mg, 3.4Ommol) was dissolved in DIVIF (2mL) and a solution of 3-cyanophenylboronic acid (500mg, 3.4Ommol) in DIVIF (5mL) was added. The aqueous fraction was extracted with DCM (5OmL) and the combined organic fractions were dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo.
