Reaction of neat V(O)(OiPr)3 with 1,3,5,7-tetrakis(4-phosphonatophenyl)adamantane (TPPhA) afforded a vanadium phosphonate mesoporous material, with V:P ratio of 1:1 and formula C34H28O16P4V4/10H2O. The N2 sorption isotherm is consistent with a mesoporous material, with pore size maximum of 38-39 脜 in the distribution curve. The compound was further characterized by powder XRD, TEM, EPR and SEM. The product is effective as catalyst for aerobic oxidation of benzylic alcs. to benzaldehydes.
