Magnesium (230 mg) was added to 3,5-bis (trifluoromethyl) phenyl iodide (3.0 g, 8.8 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (THF, 80 ml) and stirred for 1-5 hours.The temperature was lowered to -20 ° C and 3.0 g of DMTr-protected propylene oxide (8 mmol) in THF (10 ml) was added.
