The reaction was covered in foil and stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction was diluted with dichloromethane and washed with aqueous ammonium chloride and brine. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica ptlc using 50% ethyl acetate in hexane to give Compound 259a (0.045 g, 7.32 mumol, 27 % yield). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): delta 1.64 (m, 2H), 1.94 (M, 4H), 3.24 (t, 2H, J = 6.5 MHz), 3.52 (dd, IH, J = 4.0, 16.6 MHz), 3.73 (dd, IH, J = 10.5, 16.6 MHz), 3.98 (s, 3H), 4.12 (m, 2H), 4.50 (dt, IH, J = 4.0, 11.2 MHz), 6.84 (s, IH), 7.13 (t, IH, J = 6.0 MHz), 7.29 (m, 2H), 7.57 (s, IH), 7.90 (d, IH, J = 4.4 MHz), 8.29 (d, IH, J = 8.0 MHz). MS (m/z), found 533.3 ([M]++K).
