The reaction mixture was stirred for 40 h at room temperature and evaporated under vacuum to obtain a residue. The residue was dissolved in DCM (100 ml_) washed with H20 (50 ml_), dried over sodium sulphate and evaporated to obtain (£)-/V-(5-bromo-2-iodobenzylidene)-2-methylpropan-2-amine (3.0 g, crude) as a yellow oily compound. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCI3) delta ppm 1 .32 (s, 9H), 7.20 (dd, J=2.8, 8.4 Hz, 1 H), 7.68 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1 H), 8.07 (d, J=2.4 Hz, 1 H), 8.31 (s, 1 H).
