General procedure: General synthetic procedureof chalcones (2a-2y)Equimolar portions of theappropriately naphthaldehyde (20 mmol) and substituted acetophenone(20 mmol) were dissolved in approximately 80 mL of ethanol, stirring forseveral min at 0 C. Subsequently,10 mmolaliquot of 40% potassium hydroxide solution was added dropwise to the reactionflask. The reaction solution wasallowed to stir at room temperature from several hours to overnight, andthe precipitates were collected by filtration.
