Then the reaction mixture was diluted with ether (100 mL), washed with water (20 mL) and brine (20 mL), dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated to give yellow oil which was purified by flash column chromatography using 10-30% EtOAc/Hexanes to afford the product intermediate 5 as a colorless liquid (3.737 g, 99%). 1H NMR (500 MHz, CDCl3) delta: 3.97 (2H, dd, J = 11.3, 3.7 Hz), 3.71 (2H, td, J = 12.2, 1.8 Hz), 3.61 (2H, t, J = 6.3 Hz), 2.05-1.98 (2H, m), 1.88 (2H, dd, J = 13.4, 1.8 Hz), 1.77-1.74 (2H, m), 1.65-1.59 (2H, m).
