A stirred solution of Intermediate 71 (0.8 g, 2.42 mmol) and 1-iodo-2-(2-iodoethoxy)ethane (0.38 mL, 2.67 mmol) in anhydrous DMF (16 mL) was cooled to -l5C30 and purged with nitrogen for 5 minutes, then caesium carbonate (3.16 g, 9.69 mmol) wasadded. The reaction mixture was stirred for 2 h, with warming to 20C. Water (30 mL)was added and the aqueous layer was extracted with tert-buty1 methyl ether (3 x 30 mL).The combined organic layers were washed with water (2 x 30 mL) and brine (30 mL), then dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated. The resulting crude materialwas purified by flash column chromatography, using a gradient of tert-buty1 methyl etherin heptane (0-15%), to afford the title compound (927.9 mg, 86%) as a yellow solid.
