From 5 g of that product, 60 ml of ethanol, 1 ml of acetic acid and 3 g of palladium hydroxide, there are obtained 1.9 g of 7,8-dimethoxy-3-{3-{N-[(4-methoxybenzocyclobut-1-yl)methyl]-N-(methyl)amino}propyl}-1,3,4,5-tetrahydro-2H-3-benzazepin.-2-one (yield: 65%), which is converted into the corresponding dihydrochloride which, recrystallized from acetonitrile, melts at 160-164 C.
